how to get started |
what is digital scrapbooking? | photos | software | printing | resources |
Learning how to become a digital scrapbooker may be an overwhelming (but exciting) experience. What is digital scrapbooking? What do I need to get started? What kind of programs do I need to buy? How do I get stuff printed? |
These are the same questions that many wanna-be digi scrapbookers are asking. To help you out, we are continuously compiling deals on printing, where to get software, and examples of digital scrapbookers do (Check out the gallery). |
Here is the basic process/questions you need to ask yourself to get started. (Check out the links above to learn more about these topics.) First, do you have a digital camera? For many, this is the main reason to become a digital scrapbooker. Check out photos to learn more. |
Second, do you have the programs you need to get started? You will need to either download a free program or buy one to digital scrapbook. It may take some time to learn the program you choose, but there are tutorials online (many tutorials also come with the program you decide to buy) to help you get started. Check out software to get a listing of programs, prices, and links to stores and tutorials. |
Third, do you know how you want to print your pages? Digital scrapbookers, like regular scrapbookers use 12"x12" papers. Of course, the flexibility of digital means you could choose another size if you wanted (you could just crop your pages to the size you planned on printing them). Check out printing to see a listing of prices and places you can print. |
It is a bit of work to get started, but it is definately worth it! Some of the benefits of digital scrapbooking includes a backup file of your work (if your current album is damaged, you can always print another album!), multi-use of bought products (once you have bought a digital paper you can use it as often as your want! You can use a digital 12"x12"paper as a background for one page, cropped mattes for another, etc.), and decluttering your space at home (suddenly you won't need an entire room set up at all times with papers, scissors, scrapbooking inventory, etc.).
